Jack Mitchell Ellis Overton, 35, who had been in failing health the past few months, died Monday evening at the Atchison Hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sumner Cemetery south of Atchison. The Rev. John Davison will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening 7-8:30 at the Sawin and Dyer chapel. Pallbearers will be Jim Gary, Joe Gary, Dale Montshire, Joe Walker, William Gill and Dave Tull.
Mr. Overton was born July 21, 1945, in Atchison, the son of Mitchell and Estella Fleiner Ellis.
He worked for a number of years for Dempsey Motor Co. and Jaegle Orchard southwest of Atchison. In his spare time he enjoyed making model cars and he also collected metal for profit.
He is survived by two sisters, Janice Garrison, Kansas City, Mo., and Gloria James, Lawrence; a half-brother, Jim Buster, Denton; his stepfather, Millard Overton, 1518 South Seventh, a stepsister, Darlene Eylar, 324 North Second; two stepbrothers, James Overton, Newark, Ohio, and Jerry Overton, Topeka; 12 nieces.
