Emory was one half of a twin. Emory's brother (Emmit) died nine days after birth, Emory was the son of Alexander Nimrod Colyott and Mary Elizabeth Keathley and husband to Neva Mae Corey.

"Emory Colyott - Funeral services for Emory Colyott, 81-year-old resident of Annapolis, who died Aug. 27, 1981 at his home in Annapolis, were held Sunday, Aug 30, 1981 at Nazarene Church, Annapolis with burial in the Annapolis Cemetery. Rev. Erwin Colyott, St. Louis, and Rev. C.J. Casteel, Annapolis, officiated at the services.
He was born April 1, 1900 in Reynolds County, Mo. He has resided in Iron County most of his lifetime. He was a farmer.
He married Neva Mae Corey, who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, wilma Jamison, Ironton; one son, Eugene Colyott, Vulcan; two granchildren, one sister, Lillie Buxton, Ellington.
White Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."
