She was the oldest child of Joseph Colyott and Mary Brewer. Mary (Maria) Louisa may have been named for her grandmother Mary Louisa Brewer, or for her father's sister, Maria Louisa Caillot Lachance. [Maria Louisa was a very common name among the Mississippi French.]

"Louisa Colleyott" was not quite 17 years old when she married George Mills Goodwin from Oregon Co, Mo., June 27, 1861 in Oregon County. Louisa & her sister Sarah Jane must have gone to Oregon Co., Mo to visit their aunt Eliza (Brewer) who had married Wm. Sampson Huddleston and lived there, because both Louisa and Sarah married men from Oregon County. -- George was Wm. Sampson's half-brother.

Mary Louisa and George had a son the next year, Joseph, b Mar 21, 1862. George died before 1866. The circumstances & time are unknown, but those years during the Civil War were very tumultous and extremely dangerous for anyone (especially men) living in Missouri. Many men were murdered by roaming Bushwhackers, if they were not killed in the War.

Mary Louisa married again to John J. Aldridge in Iron Co, Mo., June 26, 1866 in Iron Co, Mo. In 1900 they were in Iron Co, Mo, her mother "Polly Colliott, 77" was living with them.

Mary Louisa died Dec. 23, 1905, Iron Co., Mo.; buried Cove Cemetery near Arcadia. If my dates are correct, her mother, Polly, died two days later, Dec. 25. (burial place unknown).
John died about 10 months later.

Children:
1. Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie", 1867-1920, m George W. Dodson
2. Nancy Lourinda, 1869-1870
3. Jackson J., 1871-1903
4. Malissa Adline, 1874-?
5. William Riley, 1876-?
6. Sarah Safronia, 1879-1947
7. Amanda E, 1881-?; m Robert "Bert" Hill
8. Newton Jasper, 1884-1917; m Rosa Mayberry
