Mary was the daughter of Harry Zeller Balmer and Rebecca Ditzler Edwards. She was the wife of Howard Washington DeWees (who was born in Maryland).

Mary I. Balmer Dewees of Lake Wales died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Lake Wales Medical Centers. She was 80.
Services were private at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
She was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Ephrata, Pa. and moved to Lake Wales three years ago from Fedhaven, where she resided for 20 years. She retired to Florida in 1977 from Westminster, Md. She was a retire clerical proofer for Carroll County Bank, Westminster and was of the Lutheran faith.
Mrs. Dewees was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Washington Dewees and a brother. Survivors include a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
