John D Gerhart, Navy Veteran, Dies in Hospital
John David Gerhart, 58, husband of Laura E. (Anderson) Gerhart, 333 Jefferson avenue, died last night at 9:20 o'clock in Pottstown hospital. He had been ill for 10 years.
Born in Pottstown, he was the son of the late John H. and Carrie (Bauer) Gerhart.
He was employed as a painter at Montgomery county Housing Authority, Penn Village. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran church and served three and a half years in the U.S. Navy after World War I.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Geraldine, wife of Melvin Adams, Reading and Patrica A., at home, three brothers, Charles, Pottstown RD2; Gerald, Sanatoga; and Arthur, the Charles Johnson home; a sister Irene, wife of Earl Steltz, Laurel street and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday from Houck Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. L Samuel Krouse, associate pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran church. Interment will be in Pottstown West End cemetery.
