Melvin G Adams, 84, worked at former Firestone plant:
Melvin G. Adams, 84, of Montgomery Avenue, Colebrookdale, husband of Geraldine M (Gerhard) Adams, died Tuesday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, where he had been a patient since Nov. 15.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John S. and Mary E. (Kirn) Adams.
He was a 1935 graduate of Reading High School and worked for more than 30 years as a tuber operator with the former Firestone Tire & Rubber Co., Pottstown, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Pottstown, where he was a member of the Christian Fellowship Group.
He was a member of Local 336 Retirees Club, Pottstown, the Nifty Fifty Plus Group, Pottstown, and the Happy Wanderers Travel Group, New Berlinville.
Surviving with his widow are five sons, John M. Belford, N.J., Michael D., Duncannon, Gerald L., Mesa Ariz., Melvin G. Jr., Birlington, N.C., and David L., Newtown; two daughter, Patricia A. Lesher, Temple, and Cheryl L Steiger, reading; a brother, Robert E., Pottstown; two sisters, Luella Nagle, Portland, and Hermena Posey, Reiffton; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Pottstown.
Shares of Faith may be made in his memory to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hanover and Walnut streets, Pottstown, PA 19464.
The Auman Funeral Home, Reiffton, is in charge of arrangements.
