Louis V. Galetto, 79, of Waxhaw, N.C., and formerly of Old Forge, died Saturday in the Levine and Dickson Hospice House, Huntersville, N.C.

His wife of 24 years is Mary Ann Galetto.

Born in Old Forge, son of the late Louis P. and Evelyn Boveri Galetto, he graduated from Old Forge High School, class of 1950.

Louis attended the University of Scranton for two years and graduated from Penn State University in 1955 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and membership in Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity.

He began working for Westinghouse Air Brake Co. in Pittsburgh, followed by Bendix Corp. in Montrose, and then IBM for 30 years, having worked in Endicott, N.Y., Louisville, Ky., and Charlotte, N.C., where he met his wife, Mary Ann. During his time at IBM, he was awarded 11 patents for developments in printer technology. Following retirement from IBM he worked for Lexmark, where he worked on projects for color laser printers.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Charlie.

Also surviving are daughters, a son, a stepdaughter, grandchildren, a brother,a nephew and a godson.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, old Forge.

There will be a Blessing Service in the Old Forge Cemetery Chapel by the Rev. Louis T. Kaminski. Interment will follow.

Viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
