1. Enlisted in Palmyra, Lebanon County, August 7, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 13 as a private with Co. I, 127th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 29, 1863.
2. Enlisted in Harrisburg February 28, 1865, mustered into federal service there March 1 as a corporal with the 83rd Pennsylvania Infantry in the second organization of Co. I, and honorably discharged with his company June 28, 1865.
He married Pennsylvania-born Susan Countryman ca. 1872 and fathered Robert Henry (b. 06/08/73, d. 03/08/75), Fannie Elmira (b. 12/25/74), Anna Susan (b. 07/28/77 - married Edward Blessing Nye), Emma Florence (b. 05/07/80, d. 01/07/82) and Marion Francis (b. 11/??/82). Oddly, neither Pennsylvania death certificate nor an obituary was found online.
