The son of Joseph & Elizabeth (Hallinger) Clark and stepson of Anna Brenner Myers Clark,, in 1860 he was a carpenter living with his farming family in Conewago Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He married Charlotte Balmer November 28, 1861, in Dauphin County, but they apparently had no children.

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Dauphin County October 29, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg November 2 as a private with Co. C, 177th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company August 5, 1863.

No obituary was found in any online newspaper archive.
