From Akron Beacon Journal, Monday Feb 7, 2011:

Jonathan Bastock went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2011.
He was a resident of Cuyahoga Falls for the past 14 years. Officer Bastock served with the Stow police department for 13 years, where he was active in many departmental activities and was treasurer of the FOP. One of the most kind, caring and fair individuals you could ever hope to meet, he is loved dearly by his wife and children; "The best dad in the world."
Preceded in death by his daughter, Lauren; he is survived by his wife of 23 years, Donna; children, Justin, Evan and Jillian; mother, Donna Bastock; brother, David (Julie) Bastock and their son Noah; mother-in-law, Marilyn Beteau.
Friends are invited to Redmon Funeral Home for visitation Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, where Rev. David Klein will conduct service Wednesday 11am. Burial Silver Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an education fund established for the benefit of the children at any Key Bank. Jonathan's video tribute will be available at www.redmonfuneralhome.com

Officer Bastock served as a sworn full-time police officer since Nov. 2, 1998. He served as a member of the Stow Police Reserves for five years prior to that. He died from a blood clot Feb. 5 while recuperating from knee surgery a few weeks ago, was on injury leave after falling on ice on a call in January.

Parts of Darrow Road and Stow Road were closed for the procession to Silver Springs Cemetery, where Bastock was honored with a gun salute. Police officers and firefighters from across Northeast Ohio attended the funeral to honor a man who "held the line" and put together Stow's Christmas Luminaries event to honor fallen servicemen.
