Alan L. Diehl, 74, died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in 1:23 p.m. at St. John's-Aurora Hospital.

He was born June 5, 1930, in Fairfield, Iowa, to Carl C. and Ruth F. (Jacobs) Diehl.

On September 22, 1950, he married Charlotte E. Clapper in Fairfield, Iowa, and she now lives in Kimberling City, Missouri. He married Bertha Hawkins August 30, 1976, in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death March 10, 1997.

Alan graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948. He was a mechanical engineer for Raynoor Garage Door Company. He was a member of the Sedalia Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Kansas City and the Tebala Shrine Temple in Rockford, Illinois. His hobbies included collecting old LP's and cameras, gardening, woodworking and swimming. He served his country in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Methodist Faith.

He is survived by one son, Dr. Jeffrey Diehl and wife Polly of Aurora; one daughter, Cheryl Diehl of Independence, Missouri; one brother, Richard Diehl of Fairfield, Iowa; one sister, Marjorie Worley of Fairfield, Iowa; aunt, Milly Anderson of Abingdon, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

His parents, son Mark, and brother Darrell preceded him in death.

No formal services are planned. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 16 in the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, 303 S. Jefferson Ave., Aurora, Missouri.

Memorial services will be in Fairfield, Iowa, at a later date.
