Archie Eugene Dillard, Jr., PhD passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 22, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Archie was born October 8, 1941 in Hendersonville, North Carolina to Archie Eugene Dillard, Sr. and Minnie Sue Dillard. He served in the Navy and worked as an engineer in the airline industry. Archie served as a Chief Scientist for the Federal Aviation Administration. Archie also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his beloved pet, Bella. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann (Donaldson) Dillard, December 9, 1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Archie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Ann Dillard; children, Dea Ann Cate and husband, Randy Cate, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dana Laurane Martin and husband, Randall Martin, of Arlington, and Elisa Dillard Rainey and husband, James Rainey, of Waco; grandchildren, Shelby Ann Cate of Seattle, Washington, Nolan Randolph Cate of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jason Randall Martin of Jenks, Oklahoma, Kelsey Lauren Ward of Bennington, Oklahoma, Logan James Rainey of Waco, and Connor Lance Rainey of Waco; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Barry Dillard of Mills River, North Carolina and Edwin Bradford Dillard of Mills River, North Carolina.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Central Texas or Providence Foundation, Waco, TX.
