James R. "Jim" Dutton, 80, passed away August 22, 2003, in Glendale, AZ. Mr. Dutton was born March 1, 1923, in Claremore, OK, to Robert R. and Bonnie M. Benbrook Dutton. He was a longtime Hutchinson resident, moving to Hutch in 1933 from Claremore, OK. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1940. He was the ret. VicePresident and General Manager of the Bunge Corporation, working there from 1948-1983, in charge of the company's Kansas and Colorado grain divisions. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson. He was a member and past President of the Hutchinson Board of Trade, the Kansas City Board of Trade, and a former member of the American Legion and Prairie Dunes Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, water skiing, occasional recreational flying and the star-filled nights over the Kansas skies.Jim joined the Naval Air Corps in 1942 and flew DC-4 hospital evacuation planes from Guam to the United States. He was stationed in Guam. On April 19, 1946, he married Dottie Fleming in Hutchinson. She survives him. Other survivors include his sons Ron and his wife Dawn of Overland Park, KS, and Mike and his wife Linda of Olathe, KS; daughter Nancy Phleger of Peoria, AZ; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert J. and Bill J. Dutton.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 29 at Elliot Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Rev. Tim Soule officiating. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may sign the book Thursday, August 28, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Elliot Chapel.
