Billy Max Hutton, the son of Myrtle A. (Dunning) and Irvin M. Hutton, was born March 16, 1926 at Plainville, Kansas.

He departed this life on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the Webster County Community Hospital in Red Cloud, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Bill, as he was known by family and friends, received his formal education graduating from the Plainville High School.

A veteran of World War II, he served his country with the United States Army's 98th Infantry Division and was discharged at war's end in 1946.

On August 6, 1946 Bill was united in marriage with Jeanette Stewart at the First Christian Church in Stockton, Kansas. This union was blessed with four children, Mark, Deborah, Wm. Daniel and Jennifer.

Bill was employed as a certified mechanical engineer with Farmland Industries for 32 years. He began with their pipeline division as a welder and ditch digger. In 1961, the family moved to Hastings where Bill helped build the Anhydrous Ammonia Plant. A member of the First Christian Church, Bill served as a deacon, elder, taught teenage Sunday School and headed their CYF youth group. From 1967-1969 they lived at Dodge City, Kansas. Bill worked at Phillipsburg and Lawrence, Kansas, and Hastings, before retiring in 1984, when they moved to Guide Rock, where he built their home.

He was faithfully committed to a number of organizations including serving as president of the Guide Rock Lions Club, he was a past commander of the V.F.W. and American Legion Posts. Bill possessed a number of interests and activities throughout his life including fishing, hunting, camping and traveling. An accomplished pilot, he obtained his license and for many years flew his Mooney airplane around the country on various trips. Bill's personality was pervaded by a stubborn determination to excellence in each and every task at hand. He will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Jeanette, on February 12, 2010; and two brothers, Ustel and Vernon Hutton.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Hutton and wife Martha of Soldotna, Alaska, and William Daniel Hutton and wife Patty of Red Cloud, Nebraska; two daughters, Deborah Jean Dyche and husband Larry of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Jennifer Hutton of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, 3:00 p.m., October 26, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Hastings, Nebraska with the Rev. Jim Gordon officiating.

There will be no visition.
