Zella Floyd Basinger, 99, went home on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010.

A graveside service is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Little Vine Cemetery in Sumner.

The family is to receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Born in Globe on Dec. 6, 1910, to William Clinton and Icephena Wheeler Floyd, she attended Central Schools in Sumner and a business college in Paris. She married Floyd Basinger on June 22, 1935. They had two children, James "Corky" and Dickie Basinger. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother and cared deeply for all her family.

She was accepting of everyone and treated everyone with kindness. Her generosity, wisdom and laughter will be missed. Mrs. Basinger was a homemaker in Sumner until 1984, when she was preceded in death by her husband and moved to Paris. Her brother, Lowell Floyd, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Corky and Betty Basinger of Paris and Dickie and Shirley Basinger of Emberson. She had five grandchildren, James Bill "Rusty" Basinger of Paris, Tammy Basinger of Sumner, Randy Basinger and wife, Missy, of Fayetteville, Tenn., Bryan Keith Basinger and wife, Julie, of Tulsa, Okla. and Brice Basinger and wife, Doreese, of Emberson. She had 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a niece, Mary Ann McGuire; a cousin, Delores Gullion, both of Paris; and several nephews.
