Service: 1st Lieut. - Res. Stoughton ; farmer; 34; comm. and must. June 26, 1861; resigned June 23, 1862. The following is his letter from his service record. Dated at Front Royal, Virginia June 15, 1862 to Maj. S. Buck, A.A.G - "Sir, I herewith beg leave as First Lieutenant of Company I. 12th Regt. Mass. Vols. The cause which has led me to resign is my extreme ill health having been for the past five weeks entirely unable to perform my duties in Camp, and to endure the extreme fatigue and exposure connected therewith. Such being the case, I was this resignation to be considered, immediate and unconditional". Born at Raynham, Mass. July 28, 1826; died November 28, 1885. Buried at Pearl Street Cemetery, Stoughton.
