Born in Stoughton, Mr. Cushing was a lifelong resident.
He was educated in Stoughton schools.
Mr. Cushing was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Cushing was a member of Teamsters Locals 25 and 653. In addition, he was a trustee and superintendent of Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
After his retirement, he worked for the Town Spa in Stoughton.
Mr. Cushing was a member of the Easton Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 89 and Amvets Post 1977, all in Stoughton, Canton Town Club, King Philip Shrine Club in Plainville, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Boston and the Cawnacome Sunshine Lodge in Monument Beach. In addition, he was the past armorer for the Stoughton Grenadiers, past master of the Rising Star Lodge in Stoughton and an Aleppo Shriner in Wilmington.
In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, NASCAR and football.
Mr. Cushing is survived by his wife, Ann; two sons, Robert G. Jr. of Buzzards Bay and Kevin J. of Marion; a daughter, Kathy MacEachern of Stoughton; two brothers, Burton of West Roxbury and Harvey of Florida; three sisters, Edith Woodward of Connecticut, Helen Estabrooks of Florida and Shirley Parenteau of Stoughton; and two grandchildren;
A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. today at Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
