Frank was the son of Telith'a Anna Colvin. He was raised by his step-father, John Henderson Darrow. He had six half brothers and sister: Robert H., George Frederick, May, Ima June, Nina and Homer John. He married Lillie Mae Pauley in 1907 and they had one daughter: Anna Caroline (Carolyn).
