OBITUARY
Mrs. Alwilda M. Hale, for eleven years a resident of this city, passed away November 25 at the home of her daughter in Pomona at 9:40 in the morning, aged about 70 years. The deceased was born in New York but was reared in Wil[li]mington, Conn. where October 9, 1861, she was married to Oliver Hale Jr., who preceded her to the beyond by ten years. Three children were born to them, R. A. Hale of this city, Mrs. George Nibel of Pomona and Mrs. E. E. Smith, Fort Dodge, Ia. In 1867 the family removed to Iowa where they lived until 1901 when Mr. and Mrs. Hale came to Long Beach and for several years resided at 228 Golden avenue, with the exception of two years following Mr. Hale's death when the woman whom a host of friends now mourn, resided in Pomona.
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at the Cleveland parlors, with Rev. H. K. Booth in charge. Large representations from the local W. R. C. and Ladies of the G. A. R., in which orders Mrs. Hale was enrolled, attended the funeral. Interment was made beside her husband in the old cemetery at Signal Hill.
