"Service For Dana Woman"

"Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Dana at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, for Mrs. Charles Anderson, who died early Friday morning, Dec. 29, at her home in Dana. She was 54.
Mrs. Anderson's death was one of several tragedies striking the family recently. Her husband, Charles Anderson, died in July of 1943, and a son, Vernon Claire, was killed in action in France July 31 of this year. Two of her sons-in-law were lost at sea early in the war.
Mrs. Anderson, the former Mabel Clark, was a native of Grand Junction, where she was born May 7, 1890, to Gail B. and Aurilla E. Clark. She obtained her education in the Grand Junction schools and grew to womanhood there.
She and Charles Anderson were married Aug. 26, 1908 in Des Moines, Besides her son Vernon Claire, she lost a son Johnny about 20 years ago and another little boy who died at birth. Surviving are a son, Lloyd Edwin Anderson of Burlington, Mrs. Alice Hanson of Sioux City and Hrs. Helen M. Bryant and Mrs. Myrtle Thomas, both of Glendale, Calif.
She leaves also her mother, Mrs. Aurilla E. Clark; a brother , Albert E. Clark of Cedar Rapids; four granddaughters, Genevieve Jean Anderson, Natalie Anderson, Gayla Jane Hanson and Mary Karen Hanson. An aunt, Mrs. Minnie Reid, lives at Grand Junction. Her only sister died in 1937.
The Rev. Garold Noland officiated at the funeral services and was assisted by Mrs. E. M. Henery who sang ‘Rock of Ages' and ‘Jesus Lover of My Soul,' accompanied by Bertha Zellhoefer. Interment was in the Paton township cemetery and serving as pallbearers were Lawrence Peterson, William Calvert, Ben Wright, Morgan Johnson, Scott Bennett and John Vipond."

She is buried next to Charles Anderson and baby Jonnie Anderson. She shares a stone with her son Vernon C. Anderson.
