Karl Barkhaus, 82, 2023 4th Ave, N., died Monday morning at Trinity Regional Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. G.L. Milbrath officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at Gunderson Funeral Home.
Survivors include his estranged wife, Ruby, Fort Dodge; sons, Dennis, Pomeroy, and Donald, Altoona; daughters, Jolleen Bockhoven, Fort Dodge, and Elaine Dencker, Azusa, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Barkhaus, Fort Dodge; and sisters, Minnie Rumme, and Elma Duecker, both of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and infant daughter, two sisters, and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1977. In 1980 he married Jennett Scharf and she died in 1988. He later married Ruby Bockoven.
He was born Feb. 3, 1911 in Webster county, where he attended schools and later the Tobin Business College. In 1932 he married Grace Porter at Galena, Ill. The couple farmed in the Webster County area and he then worked at Georgia -Pacific from 1957 until retiring in 1976.
