"Yamhill deputy dies of injuries from cycle crash at funeral"
"A 72-year-old Yamhill County sheriff's deputy died Wednesday in a Portland hospital while recovering from head injuries he sustained during a motorcycle accident in March.
Hubbard Day, Jr., died about 9:15 a. m., said Claudia Brown, a spokeswoman for Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital. No autopsy is scheduled.
On March 4, Day was on a motor cycle escorting a funeral procession along Lafayette Avenue near Oregon 99W in McMinnville. As Day was passing a store driveway, Day ran into the back of the car, losing his helmet on impact and suffering severe head injuries.
He initially was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center and recently was move to Legacy Good Samaritan.
The Yamhill County mult-agency traffic team investigated the crash. No tickets were issued."
