CHARLES LAPACEK DIES AT 92
Charles Lapacek, 92, pioneer resident of Roberts, died at an Idaho Falls nursing home early Monday morning where he had been living since April of last year.
As a young man, Mr. Lapacek traveled west from Nebraska to Market Lake where he actively participated in the settlement of the community.
Mr. Lapacek was a member of the Roberts Grange most of his active life. He had been engaged in farming, operated threshing machines and was a mechanic in the Roberts area. He served on the board of directors of the Butte and Market Lake Canal Co.
He was born Nov. 13, 1879 at Heun, Neb., near Schuyler, the son of Karl and Agnes Nemek Lapacek.
He married Daisy Rasmussen in Idaho Falls April 20, 1908. Because of a heart ailment, in 1917 he trained to be a mechanic in the Michigan State Auto School of Detroit.
Mr. Lapacek was preceded in death by his wife on Sept. 7, 1932; a daughter, Beulah Adelaide, and two sons, Adrian Gilbert and William Albert. He is survived by one son, Charles Ernest Lapacek of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Dorothy Graeber of Roberts; three grandchildren: Charles Graeber and Nancy Graeber, both of Roberts, and Mrs. Douglas (Farall) Wheeler of Portland, Ore.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in the Roberts Community Church with the Rev. James Merlin officiating. The family will meet friends at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Buck-Sullivan Funeral Home.
