"Ernest Lapacek"
Roberts - Ernest C. Lapacek, 71, member of a pioneer Market Lake family has been reported missing and presumed dead by U.S. Coast Guard officials.
Mr. Lapacek was a commercial deep sea fisherman in San Diego and was presumed washed overboard after his boat was lost in a severe storm recently.
He was born June 4, 1909 at Market Lake, now Roberts, to Charles and Daisy Rasmussen Lapacek. His father and grandfather, Karel Lapacek were among the original Czech settlers in the 1890s at Market Lake.
Following graduation from Roberts High School, he farmed with his father north of town. He enlisted in World War II and served as a sergeant in the Philippines. Later he moved to San Diego and became a commercial fisherman.
His wife was killed in a fire several years ago.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Graeger of Missoula, Mont.
