Marion Sherman Cook, age 85, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 17, 1998.

He was born April 24, 1912 in Cedar Fort, Utah, the son of Barnes Alma and Alice Adeline Southam Cook. He married Peggy Madge Marshall on February 19, 1944 in Norwich, England. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 13, 1946.

Marion was raised in Cedar Fort, and graduated from Lehi High School. He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northern California Mission, serving as a district president. He served actively in the church in various capacities, and was especially dedicated to genealogy and temple work. He also served his country during World War II in the Army. He was an operating engineer in the construction business.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy, Kaysville; five sons and one daughter, John Marion (Mina) Cook, Salt Lake City; David Marshall Cook, William Barnes (Valerie) Cook, Michael Robert (Marsha) Cook, all of Kaysville; Paul Sherman (Sue) Cook, Kent, Wash.; Paula Ellen (Mike) Roberts, Kaysville; and 21 grandchildren. Also surviving are five brothers and five sisters, Sheldon Cook, Orem; Thayrel Cook, Vernal; Rulon Cook, Lehi; Donald Cook, Salt Lake City; Bernard Cook, Cedar Fort; Mabel Smith, American Fork; Arvilla Taylor, Salt Lake City; Florence Henke, Flora Vista, NM; Reba Kitchen, American Fork; and Maxine Harris, Lehi. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edris Karren and Esther Cook.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Kaysville East LDS Stake Center, 201 So. 600 East. Family and friends may call Friday at the Stake Center from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Interment Kaysville City Cemetery. Funeral Directors Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary.
