Shirley W. Black, 73, died Saturday, Sept. 17, in the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier. He was born March 30, 1915 in Georgetown, to Ambrose and Alice Tippetts Black.
He married Lucy Adell Dimick Dec. 1,1934 in Georgetown. Their marriage was solemnized March 10, 1987 in the
Logan LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He worked as a farmer and rancher, he also worked in construction and on the railroad.He enjoyed horses and working with them, especially in cutter racing and rodeos.
He is survived by his wife of Georgetown; two sons, Gary Black, Arizona; and Harold Black, Montpelier; two
daughters, Mrs. Don (Marie) Hennings, Montpelier; Sherry Barzee, Soda Springs; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, two brothers, June Black, Salt Lake City; and Berdean Black, Pegram; and one sister, Mrs. Vic (Barbara) Hymas, Montpelier. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joy and Harry; three sisters, DeLone,
Iola and Genevieve; one daughter-inlaw, Delores; and three grandsons, Rick, Dusty and Rocky. Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the Georgetown LDS Chapel.
Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Matthews Mortuary.
