CSA Veteran. Company F, 151st and 2nd Company H 60th Virginia Infantry. Wounded at Cloyd's Mountain on 5/9/1864. Listed in MCC 1860, 1880, 1900. Living in household of son, Lee Bailey, 1900. A family researcher's records notes a foot wound during the war.
At the end of the conflicts, he returned to Mercer county and obtained a large tract of land on Morgan's Ridge and the waters of Widemouth Creek, where he and his wife raised nine children. A female child born 18 Feb. 1869 lived only 1 day and was not named, this baby was entered in the register of deaths & the informant Floyd Bailey.
His daughter-in-law, Vasti, is interred at Woodlawn at Bluewell, memorial # 129353544.
