Civil War veteran. Levi F Heicher was mustered into Co C 127 Pa Inf as a private in Harrisburg, Pa on August 9, 1862. He was mustered out on May 29, 1863. He was then mustered into Co F 20 Pa Cav as a private on June 30, 1863 for a 6 month term of service. He was mustered out with his company on January 6, 1864. He then mustered into Co E 12 Pa Cav as a private on February 3, 1864 in Harrisburg, Pa. He was mustered out with his company on July 20, 1865. Heicher was 18 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, had brown hair, a dark complexion and gray eyes. He had been born In Dauphin County, Pa and listed his occupation as farmer.

The son of John J. & Mary (Nebling) Heicher, in 1860 he was a farmer presumably living in or near Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, although he is not found in that census. He stood 5' 6" tall and had brown hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he served three terms of service:
1. Enlisted at the grossly overstated age of eighteen in Hummelstown July 31, 1862, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg August 9 as a private with Co. C, 127th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company May 29, 1863.
2. Enlisted at the still overstated age of nineteen in Harrisburg June 23, 1863, mustered into federal service there June 30 as a private with Co. D in the six-month organization of the 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry (181st Pa), and honorably discharged with his company January 6, 1864.
3. Enlisted at the overstated age of eighteen and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg February 3, 1864, as a private with Co. E, 12th Pennsylvania Cavalry (113th Pa), and honorably discharged with his company July 20, 1865.

He married Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Orner and fathered Carrie (b. 05/13/68 - married a Levy), Artemus Ward (b. 08/06/80) and John Orville (b. 12/10/84). Cause of his death is listed as "Bright's disease" with "valvular lesion of heart" a contributing factor. His pension file reports a birth date of July 14, 1846, but shown here is the date from his death certificate.

Mary Ann Heicher died in Highspire, Dauphin County, 11 Jan 1896 at 2 am.
