Walter Edgar Galbreath, Jr., 100, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Countryside Village in Stokesdale, NC.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mr. Galbreath was born on November 25, 1913, the son of the late Walter E. Galbreath, Sr. and Evelyn Griffiths Galbreath.

Following his service in the US Army, Mr. Galbreath enjoyed a teaching career in Iredell County and Hickory area schools.

Following his retirement he and Mrs. Galbreath resided in both Charlotte and Florida before settling at Countryside Village in Stokesdale some fifteen years ago. He had a special interest in blimps and was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Galbreath, in 2000.

Surviving are his daughter Ann Wehn and her husband, Brett of Idywild, California; son Walter E. "Garry" Ga;breath, III and his wife Gail of Mooresville; sisters Evelyn G. Smith of Mountain View, California and Lois G. Frarie of Monterey, Galifornia; four grandchildren Brandon Galbreath, Jonathan Galbreath, Dawn McVicker and Laura Holder; and four great grandchildren.
