Chuck was the son of Jennie Crawford and Harrison Beatty. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He met and married Louise Miller and they had a daughter, June.

After the war, Chuck and Louise bought and operated a grocery store on the Northend of Terre Haute. They were a warm and welcome staple to the neighborhood until a national-chain supermarket was built in the 1960s.

His obituary provides that, in addition to his wife and daughter, he was survived by a sister, Juanita Stultz; and two brothers, William and Robert Beatty.

AN ASIDE: In 1947, my Dad bought a home next to Beatty's Market. As a kid, I spent many an hour "hanging around" the store and receiving good advice from Chuck. After I joined the Air Force, I would always make it a point to stop in the store and say hello when I returned home on leave.
