AN ASIDE: From the time we first met when stationed together in 1960 thru 1966, the lives of Chuck and Peggy seemed intertwined with that of my family. We met again on our next nearby assignments in Germany and then again as U.S. Capitol Police officers in the latter 1970s. By happenstance, my wife and I bought a house just a few blocks from theirs, and I van-pooled with Chuck for several years. He and Peggy were very active in their church which led to my wife joining and becoming active as well. Even after the death of my wife and our police retirements, Chuck and Peggy continued to be close and lasting friends.
