Charles Wallace Jr was the eldest son of Charles Sr and Grace Ellen Wallace. He was a life-long Washington, D.C., resident. After his High School graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and honorably served as a Military Policeman.

Following military service, Charles became a sworn officer of the D.C. Metropolitain Police (MPDC). He retired after 28 years of dedicated service, many of which were in the Vehicular Homicide Unit of the Traffic Division. Upon his retirement from MPDC in 1991, Charles was hired as a sworn Court Security Officer with the U.S. Marshal Service. His position transferred to a Security Officer at DEA Headquarters in 2001, where he remained until his sudden passing.

His marriage to Dorothy McFadden ended in divorce, but he was the father of two children whom he truly adored.

AN ASIDE: I had the pleasure of working with Charles Wallace during our employment at U.S. Marshal Service and DEA Headquarters. I attended his funeral service and know that he would have felt comforted, or possibly somewhat embarrased, by the very large presence of many, many police officers and friends.

An excerpt from the eulogy on his funeral service sheet, provides that "Charles will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his enormous generosity. He was devoted to his family, especially his mother Grace and his son Troy, the ‘light of his life.' Family gatherings were a favorite way for him to spend time. His hobbies included hand dancing, attending Redskins games, traveling, baseball, listening to old school music, watching movies, playing bid whist and keeping a very meticulaous home. He had an appetite for good food and good times." Now, THAT WAS the Charles Wallace that I remember.
