AN ASIDE: In my youth, I lived across the street from the Kirkham family. Jim and I were close childhood friends from the 5th grade until I left for the Air Force in 1955. I had visited with him once in the 60s but we lost track of each other over the years. There were lots of good memories of our youth, and I finally re-established contact with him in the late spring of 2008. I had hopes of meeting him once again and talking of the old days, but that wasn't to be. We will now have to wait until another time and place. Until then, rest well my friend.
