Elaine was born September 8, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska to parents Martin C. and Anna Katherine Scheele, both deceased.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Elmer Scheele, and her sister Lillian Scheele Eshelman.
She was baptized in Sept. 1929, and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale, Arkansas.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Charles Jones, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage in June 2009. She is also survived by her five sons, her five "daughters-in-Iove," her twelve adoring grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. The families are Ken and Lucy (Taylor, Rachel and Morgan) of Las Vegas, Nevada; David and Tonia (Dylan, his wife Laura and their daughter Lily; and Tyler) of Little Rock; Doug and Melissa (Samantha and Andy) of Fayetteville; Roger and Robyn (Whitney, her fiance Brian Francis, and Jordan and husband Dominelle) of Maumelle; and Scott and Shannon (Cooper and Lucy) of Fayetteville. She is also survived by her sister and dear friend, Lois Berner, of Little Rock.
Both Elaine and Charles were members of the SHS class of 1946. She graduated from St. John's College in Winfield, Kansas in 1948, and started the Salem Lutheran Kindergarten in Springdale in 1949. After raising her boys, Elaine graduated from Texas A & M Commerce, in 1975 with a B.A. degree. She then taught kindergarten and first grade at Greenville Christian School in Texas for 13 years. In all, Elaine was an educator in Christian schools for 20 years.
Elaine was active in service leadership roles in her church, university and community all of her adult life.
She taught Sunday school for at least 30 years, was church organist and directed and sang in church choirs. She was active in the Lutheran Women's Mission League for over 55 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, music, and of course, most of all, enjoyed time with her family and friends.
Elaine's memorial service was held on February 13, at Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale, Arkansas. Pastors Mark Lauderbach and Robert Jackson will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Springdale.
Pallbearers were the older grandchildren.
