David Lee Cooley April 19, 1931 - January 23, 2009 SALEM - David Lee Cooley was born April 19, 1931 and died January 23, 2009 in Salem, Oregon. David came into the world in the home of his parents, Victor and Martha Cooley. he grew up helping with the family business, the Cooley Dairy. He attended Salem Academy and Seattle Pacific University. He worked for the Postal Service from April, 1958 to July, 1989. After retirement, he worked for the Salem Free Methodist Church as Lay Minister of Pastoral Care. For three years, he traveled across the nation working in Senior Adult Ministry. His favorite pastimes were traveling, watching sports, reading the paper, and drinking coffee with friends, and listening to music with his wife. David is survived by his wife, Imy; and six children; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; plus eight nieces and nephews. He has three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He was known to his family and friends as a gentle Godly man who never had an unkind workd for anyone. Donations may be made in David Cooley's memory to the Senior Adult Ministry at the Free Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the Salem Free Methodist Church, on the corner of Silverton Rd. and 45th. Private interment will be at City View Cemetery. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.
