Kently was a happy young man with a terrific smile and beautiful eyes. He loved playing the drums.

He made me proud to be his mom.

Ted used to ask Kently if he was still going to be a Mama's boy when he was 30 years old....never got an answer to that but I thank God everyday that he was a Mama's boy for 19 years.

I miss you and love you my handsome young son, Mom.

Kently was the son of Ted & Jeanie Shumate & Troy Petty.

Brother of Lisa, Sonja,Kim, Brett,Richard and Todd.

Grandson of Aline Petty, Great Grandson of Nellie Ward & Ora Cline.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother,
Leota Cline & his Grandfathers Ivan Cline & William Troy Petty.

Class of 1983 Bentonville High School.

He died as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident in Oolagah, Oklahoma.

Last night while I was trying to sleep,
My son's voice I did hear
I opened my eyes and looked around
But he did not appear.
He said "Mom you've got to listen,
You've got to understand
God didn't take me from you, Mom
He only took my hand
When I called out in pain that night,
The instant that I died,
He reached down and took my hand,
And pulled me to His side.
He pulled me up and saved me
From the misery and pain
My body was hurt so badly inside,
I could never be the same.
My search is really over now,
I've found happiness within,
All the answers to my empty dreams
And all that might have been.
I love you and miss you so,
And I'll always be nearby.
My body's gone forever,
But my spirit will never die!
And so, you must go on now,
Live one day at a time.
Just understand-
God did not take me from you,
He only took my hand.

I DO SO APPRECIATE ALL TOKENS LEFT FOR MY SON, BUT WOULD ALSO ASK THAT TOKENS NOT BE LEFT EVERYDAY . I MISS A LOT BY FAMILY MEMBERS WHEN THERE ARE SO MANY DUPLICATES.
