She was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Oneonta, the daughter of the Rev. Theodore and Marion (Howard) Kohinke.
Carol was formerly active in choir and hand bells, prayer groups and other special events at Trinity Episcopal Church in Watertown. She was devoted to her participation in the Northern Country Bird Club. She loved to bake, sing, swim and volunteer for a number of community organizations. Carol was a very talented quilter and at her needlework.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Christopher Cummings, of Watertown, and Timothy Cummings and family of St. Paul, Minn.; her mother, Marion Kohinke, of Johnstown; three sisters, Kathryn Ellenberger and family, of Essex Junction, Vt., Dorothy Pierce and family, of Whitney Point, and Marilyn Washburn and family of Westerville, Ohio; three brothers, Edward Kohinke and family, of Salem, Va., Theodore Kohinke and family, of Evington, Va., and Stephen Kohinke of Albany; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carol was predeceased by her father, the Rev. Theodore Kohinke; one sister, Deborah Taylor; and one brother, Clayton Kohinke.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
