David R. Gelsi, 64, of Cayuga Road, Cayuga, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. David was born in Auburn on Oct. 14 1945. He was the son of the late Theodore and Ernestine Tavener Gelsi. David graduated from Alfred State College with a degree in engineering. He was employed at Beardsley Design Associates as a project manager and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. David was a member of the Prison City Ramblers, the Cayuga County Sportsman's Club and was currently serving on the town of Aurelius Planning Board. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Maureen Casler Gelsi; his children, David Gelsi and his wife, Tammy, of Martville, Michele Taber and her husband, James, of Port Byron, Kimberly Turner, of Cayuga, and Anne Smith and her husband, Donald, of Cayuga; David was a beloved grandfather to Jessica, Kaitlyn and Gregory Gelsi, Laura and Jennifer Uebelman, Andrew Taber, Jacob and Kevin Turner, Zachery and Bethany Wojeski, and Coleman and Emma Smith; he is also survived by his brother, Steven Gelsi; his father and mother-in-law, Harold and Genevieve Casler; his brothers-in-law, Michael (Sue) Casler, Matt (Nancy) Casler and Martin (Debbie) Casler, several nieces and nephews.
