CAYUGA - Mrs. Jeannine Knight Shaw, 82, wife of John Shaw, of 7586 Route 90, Cayuga, and a former 25-year resident of Weedsport, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Shaw was born in Brewerton on Oct. 28, 1929, the daughter of Rev. Ralph and Flora Smith Knight. She spent her youth living in South Butler and Auburn and was a 1947 graduate of Auburn East High School. With a lifelong passion for music, she studied organ under Dr. Harold Henderson and was the church organist for the Christian Church of the Disciples of Christ in Auburn and Lake Avenue Christian Church. She remained a member of the United Church of Auburn, but in recent years attended the Cayuga United Methodist Church in Cayuga. Jeannine had retired as a secretary after being employed with Marshall, Meadow and Stuart, Stone Plumbing, Weedsport; and the Auburn Answering Service. She devoted her life to her husband and four children, and her attitude remained positive and cheerful even after being diagnosed 50 years ago with multiple sclerosis. She simply kept going, always devoted to God and her cherished family. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, John R. Shaw; and their children, Kathleen (James) Decker, of Cayuga, Dr. Linda Shaw, (Raymond Carr) of Tucson, Ariz., Brian (Jennifer) Shaw, of Bloomingburg, N.Y. and Robert Shaw, of Cayuga; six grandchildren, Jonathan Decker (Karin), of West Palm Beach, Fla., Kristen Decker, of Cato, Andre and Maria Carr, of Tucson, Ariz. and Jonathan and Kailynn Shaw, of Bloomingburg, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren, Brendan Decker, Mason Spears and Kaleigh, Jordan, Madison and Christian Decker. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Ralph E. Knight. A memorial service will be held at a future date and an interment will take place in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery, Cayuga. Memorials may be to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Box 4527, New York, NY, 10163.
