Eldred K. Fleury, of Auburn, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. Mr. Fleury was born in Randolph, Neb., the son of the late William G. and Lillian (Swanson) Fleury and resided in this area for most of his life. He was a graduate of Port Byron Central School and attended SUNY Morrisville College. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army, serving his country during World War II for five years, for which he received two Purple Hearts. Upon being honorably discharged, he was active in the Cayuga County Boy Scout program as a scout leader, a group leader at the Cayuga Aurelius Senior Club, and a member of the Donald R. Ward Post No. 1259 American Legion of Cayuga. He was employed by Welch Allyn Co. in Skaneateles Falls for six years and prior to that was employed by the Auburn Plastics Co. for 20 years. Surviving is his wife, Laura Martin (Wright) Fleury, of Auburn; two sons, Terrance W. Fleury and his wife, Nancy, of Union Springs, and Donald G. Fleury and his wife, Pamela, of Cayuga; three daughters, Deborah J. Fleury, of Auburn, Lois Bowman, of Brunswick, Ohio, and Sally Scott and her husband, Richard, of Weedsport; one sister, Arlene Caraher and her husband, William, of Seneca Falls; three sisters-in-law, Mary, Janice and Shirley Fleury; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fleury was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Coopper Fleury; a daughter, Sharon J. Marsh; and three brothers, Vernon G., Loren B. and Verlon W. Fleury.
