Alice Emery, 98, passed away Jan. 20, 2012 at Consulate Healthcare of Lakeland due to complication from a stroke. She was born Alice Annette Ward, on April 8, 1913 in Fleming, to Harry H. and Francis (Sevier) Ward. She married Carl E. Emery on June 15, 1935. She spent most of her life in the Auburn area, until moving to Lakeland in 2004 with her daughter. She was preceded by her husband, Carl E.; two brothers, Kenneth and Arthur. Alice is survived by her brother, Gilbert Ward; a son, David A. Emery (Diane); and a daughter, Karen E. Nadolny; grandchildren: Teri Secor, David E. Bowen, Michael (Nancy) Nadolny, Larry (Marilyn) Secor, Penny (fiance, Joe Zdanowicz) Nadolny, and Melissa (Steve) Blauvelt; great-grandchildren, Lauren Secor, Jamie (Nate) Grant, Caitlin and Tyler Nadolny, Victoria Secor and Megan Secor, Abigail and Zachary Blauvelt; and great-great granddaughter Dania Leigh Grant, born Dec. 23, 2011 who Alice never came to know. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and special friends, Ellie Atwood and Bernie Wright. She retired from E.D. Clapp Mfg. in 1978, where she had worked for over 40 years. After retiring she belonged to Home Bureau, which she enjoyed and kept busy with her plastic crafts. Alice was a past president and at the time of her death senior member of the Aurelius Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She bowled in the Auburn Couples League and also a Woman's League and was a member of the 600 Club. She was a member of the Cayuga Methodist Church and Bible Study Group. Alice was an avid Syracuse basketball fan and continued her enthusiasm even after moving to Florida. She adopted the Tampa Bay Rays and especially liked Carlos Pena and watched most of their games. Alice was cremated and her ashes will be buried with her husband. A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. July 14, at the Cayuga Methodist Church.
