Beloved wife of Sydney L. Miller and devoted mother to Jane Pelz, wife of George Pelz; Lisa Melnick; and Hank Miller, husband to Melinda Miller. Lorraine was very proud of her seven grandchildren, Josh, Lucas, Dylan, Phoebe, Larson, Max and Nathalie. She was also a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She leaves her only sister, Nancy Comenitz, wife of Elliot Comenitz, who is quoted, "today we lost a woman of beautiful dignity, incredible wit, and an enduring kindness".
Lorraine fought a long battle against Breast Cancer with grace, courage, and strength for a large part of her later life until her death. A native of Medford, Massachusetts, Lorraine was born on December 12, 1932, oldest daughter to Mollie and Louis J. Risman. Lorraine graduated from Medford High School and went on to Skidmore College.
She met her husband Sydney when they were introduced by a friend. They were married for 59 years. He credits her as being the backbone that allowed him to grow his family business, the Harry Miller Co. in Boston, after taking over at an early age when his father unexpectedly died. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her large group of devoted and wonderful friends in Chestnut Hill where she resided, as well as Palm Beach, Florida. She was an avid reader who loved playing bridge, mahjong, and canasta. Her friends described Lorraine as being "incredibly smart with a heart of gold".
