OBITUARY

GEORGE SCHATZ DIES SUDDENLY
Prominent Landowner North of Tonkawa Stricken at Home

TONKAWA, Jan. 31 -- George Schatz, 76 years of age, prominent land owner of this vicinity, died suddenly, about 11 o'clock Thursday morning at 11 o'clock Thursday morning at his farm home north of Tonkawa. His death was said to be due to a acute indigestion.

He had been in poor health for some time, having suffered with heart trouble. He was apparently in good health until a few hours before his death.

Mr. Schatz was a pioneer resident of this vicinity, having homesteaded the farm upon which he was living at the time teh strip was opened to settlement in 1893. He came to Oklahoma from Wamega*, Kans.

During the time he has lived in Kay County he as been active in democratic politics. He served as director of the old First State bank here 20 years ago and was a charter member of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

The family came to Tonkawa, Oklahoma, from Wamego, Pottawatomie County, Kansas.
