Another Old Citizen Dead
George Schatz, Sr., died at his home just west of town, Thursday afternoon, April llth. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at the home of deceased, after which the remains were interred in the Wamego Cemetery.
Mr. Schatz was born in Germany and came to this country in1849. He was married in Illinois in 1853. Mrs. Schatz died in August 1897. They came to Kansas in 1860, locating in Wabaunsee County. Later they moved to the farm west of town where both passed away.
Seven children were born to them, six of whom are living.
Mr. Schatz was 72 years of age the 10th of April and up to a few days before his death he was one of the most industrious and hardest working farmers in this neighborhood.

It is believed that George is buried on the south side of his wife Mary with no headstone in place.
