Jane A. (Figg) Kiser of Ellettsville passed away on Thursday, January 03, 2013 at Bloomington Hospice House at the age of 96.

Jane was born in Ellettsville on March 17, 1916 to Tom and Bertie (Elliott) Figg. Jane was married to her childhood sweetheart Albert "Dick" Kiser in 1936 and they remained in marriage for 62 years until his passing in Nov. of 1997. She graduated from Stinesville High School in 1934. At an early age she developed a love for music, singing in glee clubs and learning to play violin in high school. Her love of music continued through her life by joining her father, brother Nelson, and husband Albert in a quartet. For 83 years of her life she lived on Red Hill Road and her life centered on her lifelong membership at Old Dutch Church. Jane served in many capacities at the church including organist at age 15, secretary, treasurer, Sunday school teacher for 40 years and a former trustee. She was active in family history and the annual Figg reunion and was the general chairman for many years. Jane volunteered with the Ellettsville Fall Festival assisting with exhibits, displays and hostess duties. She was an author writing two books, Memories of Red Hill School, The Pendulum Strikes, and many short stories. Her hobbies included antiques and collecting chickens and bells.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Frances Presley; brother, Lester "Bill" Figg, and great-granddaughter, Lauren Krebbs.

Jane is survived by her children, Tom and wife Janet Kiser of Bloomington, Becky Johnson and Sue Wilson both of Ellettsville; brother, Nelson Figg of Ellettsville; devoted grandmother to Carla, Brad, Brian, Andy, Kim, Kathy, and John; great-grandchildren, Katie, Parker, Thomas, Kurt, Alle, Jackson, Jonah, Josie, Jacob, Silas, Nathan, and Justin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Nick Robertson officiating. Burial will be at Old Dutch Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Dutch Church Cemetery fund in care of the funeral home.
