Ila Ruth "Bobbie" Booher, 86, of Greenfield, formerly of Spencer, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the Golden Living Nursing Home. She was born the fifth of nine children, December 23, 1925 in Indianapolis to Ray and Lillian (Bunce) Lakin. In her early years Bobbie worked in a war factory machine shop. She retired from RCA in Indianapolis with over 20 years of service. She held the positions of union Steward and secretary of Local union 1048 IBEW for several years. After moving to Spencer, she worked at Rostone as a press operator and at Owen Valley Health Campus in housekeeping. Bobbie was honored in 1964 for her heroism of saving a 14 year old boy from drowning in Lake Schafer. She was a member of Old Dutch Community Church in Ellettsville and she enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Joe Halderman (Kathy) of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mable Dillon of Amo and Florence Kelm of Carmel, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Booher, two sons, Phillip and Daniel Halderman, a daughter, Katrinka Halderman, and two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral service will be held 3pm, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Shear will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimers Associaton of Greater Indiana.
