Daryl C. Hawks, NBC Sports Anchor, died suddenly May 12, 2011, age 38 of River Forest, Illinois. Beloved husband of Sandra E., nee Kline, Hawks; loving father of Daryl Jr., Jasmine and Christopher "CJ;" dear son of Leila D. Florence (Redino) and the late Harold Hawks; step-son of Nicholas Redino Jr.; son-in-law of Audrey (Philip Martino) Kline and William (Diane) Kline; grandson of Mary Sapp and the late Nathaniel H. Florence and Drucilla M. Florence; brother-in-law of Shawn Kline; also survived by three siblings, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Daryl was in Atlanta, Georgia to cover the Chicago Bulls-Atlanta Hawks playoff game.

Hawks was a native of Buffalo, N.Y., an ex-Marine and a graduate of Buffalo State College. He briefly played semipro football with the Lockport Invaders in New York.

There will be no prior visitation. Funeral Services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, 8445 Greiner Rd., Williamsville, NY 14221.

Family and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Daryl's memory to The Hawks Children Education Fund, C/O Community Bank of Oak Park and River Forest, 7777 Lake St., River Forest, IL 60305.
