Rita E. Grabinski will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Raymond Church, Elmhurst Road (Route 83) at Lincoln Street, Mount Prospect. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 3 until 9 p.m. today, at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect. The life of this wonderful woman began on Sept. 3, 1930, born to the late Helen and Sylvester Wyorski. Rita died peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 12, 2007, of PSP, a rare brain disorder with no known cause or treatment, which started in March of 2001. It adversely affects walking, balance, vision, speech and swallowing. Before her illness

Rita was a very outgoing, vibrant and caring person and was always smiling. She was very happily married to Eugene for over 54 years. Together they traveled the world. They also took extreme pleasure with their family of 19 on trips to Disney World, Hawaii and a Disney Cruise. Rita and Eugene were in first grade together and were together for 70 years. Rita worked as a secretary to a general (5th Army) before her children were born. After they grew up, she was secretary at Allstate Insurance for 19 years. Rita was the beloved wife of Eugene Grabinski; loving mother of Carl (Karen) Grabinski, Eugene Jr. (Susan) Grabinski, Joanna (Chris) Halvorsen and adopted daughter, Lisa (William) Deiker; cherished grandmother of Sarah, Greg, Kristen, Erica, Claire, Caroline, Georgia, Alyssa and Andrew; loving sister of Dorothy "Babe" (Clarence) Monson; and dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her caretakers, Jadwiga Rup and Beata Majcher. In the hope of finding a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) donations may be made to CUREPSP, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Road, Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031. "God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around her and whispered "come with me." With tearful eyes we watched her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A beautiful heart stopped beating, putting her at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best."
