N. Gard Nielsen, 78, died Sunday at his home, 618 Big Horn in Alliance. He had lived in the Alliance area for the past 50 years and was in the farming and ranching business 20 miles west of Alliance for many years.
Mr. Nielsen was born November 7, 1878, in Idom, Denmark. He married Ane Marie Hansen on March 22, 1911, at the Lazarus Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, Wis. She survives. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Ervin Nielsen of San Diego, Calif., and Hilton Nielsen of Alliance; by three daughters, Mrs. Ivan Hashman and Mrs. Leonard Behm, both of Alliance, and Mrs. Clifford Dyer of Hemingford; 11 grandchildren; and by a niece, Carrie Andreasen of Faarevgle, Denmark. One son, Chris, died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. R. W. Huber officiating.
Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery with the Landa Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Members of the family request that persons so desiring may designate their memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
