JAMES ALBERT GEORGE LAMBERT, born at Nova Scotia , Canada ca. 1846 [possibly from Cumberland Co., N.S.]; and died at 146 Bentinck St., Sydney, Cape Breton, N.S., Canada 17 April 1928, aged 82 yrs. He married at St. Matthews Anglican Church, St. Lawrence, Newfoundland, Canada 9 April 1883 (by Rev. A.S.H. Winsor], SABINA PIKE . She was born at St. Lawrence, Nfld., Canada ca. 1858, and died at 1 Douglas Street, Sydney, N.S. 30 October 1919 about 5:30 p.m., aged 61 yrs., due to heart disease [ ]. At the time of his marriage in 1883 he is listed as a store keeper at St. Pierre Island., age 34; Sabina was 24 at the time and residing at St. Lawrence. In 1914 James and his son Fred Jay Lambert were listed as proprietors of Furnisher' Ltd. at their residence, 465 Esplanade St., Sydney, N.S. James was a merchant and resided on Bisson St., at St. Pierre Island from 1883-93; where his children were born. James and his family appear on a 1888 Census living on Rue Bisson: James, age 39, Sabin, age 28, Mary age 3, Carry age 2, and Albert age 7 mos. James obtained a Crown Land grant in Little St. Lawrence, Nfld. 10 March 1888. [S746 9 acres 2 rods 39 polls "Two Lots" – St. Lawrence 35:123]. The following is an obituary for James A.J. listed in error as John J. Lambert - The Sydney Record, 19 April 1928, p. 2, column 6. After an extended period of unsatisfactory health. John J. Lambert passed away this week at his home on Charlotte Street. Mr. Lambert was was 82 years of age had lived in Sydney virtually all his long life. Until a few years ago when his health began to give way he carried on a furn[a]ture business. He was a man held in esteem by many friends. One daughter a[n]d serveral sons are left to mourn his death. James was buried 19 April 1928, and Sabina was buried 2 November 1919 at lot Division "C" - Range 7 - Lot 157, Hardwood Hills Cemetery in Sydney, N.S., Canada. There gravestone was erected in June, 2003 by the John D. Steele Co., North Sydney, N.S. "JAMES A.G. Lambert / 1846-1928 / HIS WIFE / SABINA (PIKE) / 1858-1919 / ERECTED IN THEIR MEMORY BY / GREAT -GRANDSON DAVID A. LAMBERT."
